Online shopping giant, Shopify, allows small businesses to create custom e-commerce shops. They just announced on Twitter that they will be introducing NFT-gated storefronts as a new feature for brands looking to make their stores more exclusive.
Shopify stated that token holders will be able to connect their crypto wallets which will then unlock “exclusive shopping experiences”. These will include features such as early access to drops and limited collections to “one-of-a-kind experiences”. Shopify’s “gm” shop is currently in beta, and only those with existing NFT collections are eligible to apply for early access.
Shopify revealed that as part of their token-gated shop launch they have already partnered with the well-known NFT collections such as Doodles, World of Women, Invisible Friends, Superplastic, Stapleverse, and Cool Cats. Lastly, in addition to online token-gating, Shopify will be adding “IRL” token-gating. This means that only eligible NFT holders can purchase select merchandise at physical locations or storefronts.
