Pocketful of Quarters (POQ) has become a Unity partner to help developers implement blockchain tech for web3 games. Currently, the company’s investors and advisers include big names such as Tim Draper (Draper Associates), Michelle Phan (co-founder of Ipsy), and Chris Cross (formerly of Blizzard Entertainment).
The company announced that they have officially received certification as a “Unity Verified Solution Partner”. This means all game developers on Unity will now have access to POQ’s software developer kit (SDK), enabling them to easily integrate blockchain technology onto their gaming titles.
POQ offers “Quarters”, the company’s game-agnostic, digital utility token designed for the sole purpose of gameplay that empowers players with the freedom and agility to move from one game to another. POQ says that “Quarters” are a compliant and interoperable video game currency for the open metaverse. Ultimately, POQ wants their token to move seamlessly along with other assets between games. With players being able to use them across hundreds of web3 gaming titles and genres.
So far, apparently there are 60 video game companies that have signed up to participate.
