Wemade is a pioneer in game development from South Korea. The company’s focus is ever-shifting towards metaverse and blockchain (NFT, DeFi) technology with an emphasis on personalizing the gaming experience through in-game asset ownership.
Wemade says its aim is to transform everyday games with blockchain technology and establish its Wemix token as a key currency in the gaming industry. CEO Henry Chang wants to make Wemade the “Steam of blockchain games”. This week the company reported that for the first quarter they made $6.5 million in operating profit on $131 million in revenues.
Wemade is the developer and owner of “The Legend of Mir” IP. The Legend of Mir apparently has more than 500 million users. And its latest blockchain game Mir4 is a new web3 game that apparently has more than four million people playing every month.
Wemade recently added nine games to their Wemix blockchain gaming platform, which enables developers to launch blockchain games without much knowledge about web3. They also recently announced on Twitter the launch of their new and improved Wemix3.0 web3 gaming ecosystem. This was covered in a previous report by GFPs and RE3W.
