Recently, several major food companies have taken out NFT and metaverse trademarks to secure the digital future of their brands.
Last week RE3W and GFPs covered a story on Cheetos entering the metaverse, with a virtual reality experience called ‘Chesterville’ in Meta’s Horizon Worlds. Vayner3, the web3 consultancy under VaynerX, is leading the development and management of the metaverse world. The world is exclusively available inside Meta Horizon Worlds on Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headset.
Now Mike Kondoudis reports Kraft, Del Monte, Takis, and In-N-Out Burger have also announced filings for NFT trademarks. On October 10th, Del Monte apparently filed eight new trademark applications for Del Monte and the Del Monte Shield. As part of this, they listed plans for NFTs and NFT media, virtual marketplaces, metaverse spaces, and more. Significantly, there are also plans for virtual restaurants, stores, food, and drinks.
Interestingly, two days later, Kraft Foods Group filed a trademark for its iconic hot dog-shaped Weinermobile! These new global brands filing trademarks apparently all have similar plans to create virtual restaurants, stores, and metaverse spaces in the coming months.
