Emergent Games reveals web3 survival MMO “Resurgence” will be launching on Immutable X. Ian Hambleton is currently Emergent’s CEO. The new web3 gaming studio, Emergent Games, first debuted a sneak peek of its upcoming alternate-reality game (ARG) back in June of 2022. “The End” is a prologue for the ARG MMORPG game “Resurgence” which is supposedly launching in 2024.
Emergent Games was formed earlier last year with the aim to attract gamers through a “game-first, free-to-play, choose-to-own ecosystem”. London-based digital entertainment studio Maze Theory and crypto technology operations platform Pluto Digital cumulatively invested $7.6 million as part of the deal.
The partnership is hoping to combine blockchain expertise and immersive gaming to “form a business at the forefront of the new decentralized gaming sector” and launch a triple-A web3 game. The game studio comprises a team of digital creatives from top gaming companies, including PlayStation, Sumo Digital, and Codemasters.
The web3 triple-A massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is called “Resurgence”. The prologue to the post-apocalyptic sci-fi MMO is called “The End” and is the first part of the game’s world-building phase. It is described as an interactive experience that introduces the setting, key characters, and politics that build the game’s intriguing story.
