At the end of 2021, Unity acquired Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings special effects studio Weta Digital in a $1.625 billion deal. Now Weta Digital Studios’ special effects prop company, Wētā Workshop Ltd, is making its moves into the metaverse. The company is using the narrative behind the retro-futuristic steampunk series, Dr Grordbort. A whacky, satirical series that ran from 2005 to 2008.
Wētā Workshop Ltd is working with FLUF World, the metaverse ecosystem, to create a Dr Grordbort Raygun NFT collection. FLUF World is a metaverse ecosystem of NFT character collectibles and a global, creative community. Wētā Workshop is rumored to be planning an entire Dr Grordbort universe, complete with films, comics, games, figures, and more.
FLUF World released a new promotional video with updates on its Dr Grordbort Raygun NFT collection and confirmation of the collaboration with the famous studio behind Lord Of The Rings, Wētā Workshop.
They also showcased the launch of their new website.
