Calaxy, co-founded by NBA star Spencer Dinwiddie, has raised $26 million in strategic funding for its web3 social token startup. The funding was led by HBAR Foundation and Animoca Brands, with participation from Polygon Studios.
Notably, Calaxy previously raised a $7.5 million funding round in June of 2021. With participation from NFL star Ezekiel Elliott and Matt James from well-known TV show “The Bachelor.”
The platform describes itself as a web3 “open social marketplace for creators, made by creators”. It will allow fans to connect with high-profile creators by purchasing NFTs and tokens in the form of video messages, online classes, video calls and fan club subscriptions.
Calaxy are planning to use the new funds to expand on their NFT and tokenization mechanics. With rumours of possible gamification elements coming later down the line.
