MoonRay secured $3.5 million in a fundraising round led by Animoca Brands back at the end of 2021. LD Capital, Lucid Blue Ventures, GBV Capital, and Metavest Capital joined the Moonray investment round in conjunction with Animoca Brands. The capital was said to be used to expand the Moonray multiplayer action RPG, as well as the NFT market and in-game economy.
Moonray is one of the few non-fungible token (NFT) exchanges established on the Bitcoin network via Stacks. The Stacks website notes: “Stacks is an open-source blockchain network that utilizes the security and capital of Bitcoin for decentralized apps and smart contracts.”
Moonray is described as a next-generation 3rd person action game built in Unreal Engine 5 and Ethereum. Animoca Brands says it is “made for true gamers, passion is PvP combat and large, Battle Royale worlds.” In Moonray players will be able to level up their characters, weapons, and items and trade them on their in-house Ethereum NFT marketplace. Players will be able to win tokens and NFTs in PvP combat or join up with friends to explore open-world environments.
