Venture capital firm a16z recently confirmed that they are leading a $50 million seed round for Gary Vaynerchuk’s NFT project, VeeFriends. Celebrity influencer and VaynerMedia CEO Gary Vaynerchuk, or Gary Vee, launched VeeFriends back in May of 2021. VeeFriends have stated that they plan to use the new capital to expand its intellectual property (IP) across the physical and digital platforms of the 283 VeeFriends characters.
The VeeFriends collection has apparently accumulated over 200,000 ETH in primary and secondary sales since it launched last May of 2021. The web3 project is also apparently in the top 30 collections on OpenSea. A spin-out collection, VeeFriends Series 2, was recently released with new characters earlier this year. Part of the utility of the second collection is a physical and virtual collectible trading card game.
