Sony Interactive Entertainment has entered into an agreement to acquire Berlin-based developer Savage Game Studios under its newly created PlayStation Studios Mobile Division.
Savage Game Studios was established in 2020 and is led by co-founders Michail Katkoff, Nadjim Adjir, and Michael McManus. The developer is apparently working on a “new unannounced Triple-A mobile live service action game”. They will operate independently from its console development and focus on “innovative, on-the-go experiences” based on new and existing PlayStation franchises, the company announced in a press release.
Savage Game Studios co-founder and CEO, Michail Katkoff, stated: “We made this deal because we believe that PlayStation Studios’ leadership respects our vision for how we can best operate and succeed, and because they too are not afraid to take chances.”
Michail Katkoff is also the founder of popular gaming media company Deconstructor of Fun – as well as a venture partner at Play Ventures. Play Ventures is a new game VC founded by games entrepreneurs, investing globally in games and game services startups.
