The Grammy Awards recently announced that they would be adding a new category specifically for video games. The first award will be given at the 65th annual Grammy Awards, set to be held in 2023. The Grammys are the most prestigious awards in music, and they are finally giving video game music the credit that it’s due.
The award category reads as follows:
“Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media: Recognizes excellence in score soundtrack albums composed predominantly of original scores and created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current video game or other interactive media released within the qualification period.”
