The web3 startup “Here Not There” reveals a $25 million funding round led by a16z. The Series A round was also backed by Benchmark and Framework Ventures. The company is developing Towns, a decentralized group chat protocol and app, that allows users to build online communities on the blockchain. Communities can use Towns to create programmable, self-governed “town squares”.
Here Not There Labs was co-founded by Ben Rubin – former CEO and co-founder of Houseparty and Meerkat. Brian Meek – former CTO of STRIVR Labs and General Manager of Engineering at Skype.
