NEC, Animoca Brands and Hex Trust partner for public launch of Gryfyn and new $7.5 million raise.
NEC’s aim is to improve privacy protection and data utilization by leveraging its world-class biometric authentication, secure computation and blockchain technologies. As part of this initiative, NEC is aspiring to expand the digital wallet market and business opportunities.
Hext Trust is an institutional-grade digital asset custodian licensed across financial hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and Italy. Gryfyn is described as a joint venture to provide an innovative custodial wallet solution focused on onboarding users to web3.
Last week, Gryfyn revealed it completed a fundraising round of $7.5 million from backers that include Liberty City Ventures, GameFi Ventures, Lavender Hill Capital Partners, Mind Fund, Animoca Ventures, LeadBlock Partners, Angel Hub, ans Brinc. Angle investors apparently included Gabby Dizon of YGG.
Arnoldo Concepción, the co-COO of Animoca Brands, has been appointed as the CEO of Gryfyn. Yat Siu is the executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands.
