SuperDuper and Immutable announce collaboration to develop a real-time Web3 strategy game based on its Overlord intellectual property.

SuperDuper has introduced Overlord as a versatile Web3 gaming and entertainment brand, forming an integral part of their strategy to engage with and attract millions of users into its Web3 ecosystem. 

Previously, in January of this year SuperDuper launched its NFT collection “Cold Blooded Creepz” and to date has generated over $220 million in trading volume.

SuperDuper is presently utilizing the Overlord platform to collaborate with gaming studios and a game development advisory board in the creation of multiple blockchain games. Their initial significant collaboration involved partnering up with Revolving Games who is developing a blockchain game for the mass market using Overlord’s intellectual property.

The partnership between SuperDuper and Immutable will not only allow SuperDuper to develop a real-time Web3 strategy game based on Overlord’s IP, but also enable SuperDuper to provide their customers with gas-free trading of digital assets for players across its web3 ecosystem. Furthermore, as the SuperDuper brand and its Overlord IP expands, all associated assets will be available on various Immutable-integrated marketplaces including GameStop Marketplace, Rarible, and Token Trove. In conclusion, the partnership between Immutable and SuperDuper will deliver an immersive Web3 experience to customers, Revolutionize asset trading, and expand the reach of Overlord’s IP in blockchain gaming.

Oasys announced during its event they are partnering up with XPLA. This strategic partnership between Oasys and XLPA together will help create a blockchain gaming ecosystem for gamers and developers in Japan. One of the major announcements made in relation to the collaboration between Oasys and XLPA is the upcoming introduction of the Summoners War: Chronicles game that will soon be introduced in Japan.

One of the special highlights announced during the special Oasys event taking place today (June 28th, 2023) at the historic Nijo Castle in Kyoto, Japan is for the first time ever Ubisoft is partnering up with Oasys to create a new Web3 game titled “Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronices.” 

The Oasys event also provided updates and information on previous titles and partnerships. 

Serving as a tool for creators and companies to publish their NFTs online and sell them to its customers, Rarible and Animoca Brands have partnered up to launch the Animoca Brands Mocaverse NFT collection on Rarible’s NFT marketplace.

In a chairman’s letter to all of its shareholders, Animoca Brands CEO and Founder Yat Siu talked about the positioning of his company. The letter first addresses the challenges Animoca Brands has faced in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic and other global market challenges saying: “We want to thank all of our shareholders for their patience. This report has suffered significant delays owing to many factors including in particular the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely impacted our capacity to integrate acquisitions into our blockchain/NFT strategy and locked down many of our employees across several countries around the world.” After addressing the challenges Animoca Brands has faced in the past, the chairman’s letter to its shareholders went on to talk about how the company has grown over the past 3 years from 2020 to 2023.

In fact, Animoca Brands had less than 200 people working in the company during its first year of the Covid-19 pandemic and over the past 3 years, Animoca Brands has grown exponentially and now has around 1000 employees working around the globe.  

Animoca Brands year 2020 deferred revenue according to the chairman’s letter is said to have increased from $6.947 million to $27.890 million, which marked a substantial increase of 401.5%. 

Animoca Brands also addressed in its Chairman’s letter to shareholders about the company’s relation to Artificial Intelligence stating that through their AI accelerator they have invested in over 60 AI-related startups and that some of these AI startups products are being integrated with Animoca Brands as well as across its portfolio companies. 

Investing in the AI industry is great for Animoca Brands as the company continues to advance its technology and utilize Artificial Intelligence in ways that will allow Animoca Brands to expand their brand by creating new game softwares/games and Possibly to create new NFTs.

Fenix Games recently announced it has raised $150 million to create a “new kind of publisher for blockchain gaming”. The hope is to create a publisher and platform company that plays a crucial role in bringing blockchain games to market. Fenix Games plans to use the capital to acquire, invest and publish both existing games and blockchain games of the future. The investors include Phoenix Group and Cypher Capital. 

Chris Ko is CEO and Co-Founder. Chris Ko was previously senior vice president of corporate development for Mythical Games. He has nearly 20 years of gaming experience, and he held general manager positions at Electronic Arts and Kabam. Prior to that, he was a portfolio manager at Blackrock and an equity research analyst at JPMorgan.

Rudy Koch is the chief business officer and a Co-Founder. Rudy has 15 years of experience in game development on the biggest names in the industry: Club Penguin, Call of Duty, Skylanders, and World of Warcraft. Rudy is also notably Co-Founder of Mythical Games.

Robbie Ferguson says Immutable will provide the infrastructure for these games aiming to build in web3 to accelerate the space for all players.

Npixel‘s Gran Saga: Unlimited will be the first game to be published on the Aptos Network, a new web3 platform. The game is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) and it will be based on Npixel’s original Web2 game Gran Saga. Gran Saga was one of the top-grossing games on the iOS app store.

Palo Alto, California-based Aptos has built a Layer 1 blockchain dubbed Aptos Network. Aptos has raised more than $400 million from investors including a16z, Jump Crypto, Binance Labs, Katie Haun, Multicoin Capital, PayPal Ventures, and Coinbase Ventures. Aptos Labs was founded by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching.

The companies stated that they are bringing out Gran Saga: Unlimited to take advantage of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain, and GameFi. Web3 gaming will be a core focus for Aptos heading into the new year, and this upcoming title with Npixel, a fast-growing South Korean game maker, will be the first of many gaming projects to launch on the network.

Kieran Warwick, the co-founder of blockchain gaming studio Illuvium, announced yesterday that they have raised an additional $10 million in funding from Framework Ventures via a token sale. The tokens involved in the fundraising will apparently be locked for two years and won’t be staked, thus won’t receive revenue distributions.

Kieran Warwick said the funds raised will be used to accelerate Illuvium’s development and support the distributed group of contributors. Illuvium will soon launch an AAA gaming universe with three games, Illuvium: Zero, Illuvium: Overworld, and Illuvium: Arena.

Abyss World is described as a triple-A game on the Sui ecosystem. It is being developed collaboratively with Mysten Labs and scheduled for private testing in Q2 2023, with a public alpha release focusing on PVE gameplay planned for Q3 2023.

The project has generated considerable interest, with around 120,000 global pre-orders registered on the Steam wishlist and its game trailers well over 600,000 views since the beginning of this year. 

Participants in the funding round included: Mysten Labs, the Funplus/Xterio Ecosystem Fund, Big Brain Holdings, 2moon Capital, Chainhill Capital, Dweb3 Capital, ZeroX Fund, GMA, and MH Ventures.
