Metalcore Foundation and video game developer Studio 369 recently announced their multiplayer mechanized combat blockchain-powered video game title – called MetalCore. The game is being built with Unreal Engine 4 and is a first-person combat game located in an open world. The game’s creators have worked on projects for Activision, Disney, Lucas Films, Midway, and the Mechwarrior, Mortal Kombat, and Gears of War franchises. The Metalcore team has published a debut trailer on Youtube which gives a preview of what to expect from the game.

Animoca Brands stated they will use the new capital to continue to fund strategic acquisitions, investments, and product development, and secure licenses for popular intellectual properties to advance the “open metaverse”.

Animoca Brands is making big strides into the new generation of blockchain games. Specifically, they are showing interest in web3 games utilizing technology such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to authenticate unique digital items as in-game assets.
Per the report released earlier this week, the firm has invested over $1.5 billion across more than 340 projects as of April 30th, 2022. These include Colossal, Axie Infinity, OpenSea, Dapper Labs (NBA Top Shot), Yield Guild Games, Harmony, Alien Worlds, and Star Atlas, among many others.
Animoca Brands also established new joint ventures including: Anicube with CUBE Entertainment, Inc.; MetaHollywood with Planet Hollywood; and OneFootball Labs with OneFootball. Lastly of note is their partnership with Yuga Labs for the Otherside project, the metaverse game from the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
