Genopets is partnering with Magic Eden on an Ordinals launchpad drop of limited edition Bitcoin Baby Genopet NFTs.

Genopets is a free-to-play, move-to-earn game built on the Solana blockchain. By using the Genopets app, players can collect steps while walking outside. These steps are then converted into Energy and that Energy can be used to level up their Pet or exchange it for KI tokens. KI tokens are the main currency in Genopets and are used to craft Crystals, upgrade Pets, and maintain Habitats.

The team just announced plans for their next NFT mint – on Bitcoin Ordinals – called Bitcoin Babies. This collection will give Genopets cross-chain functionality and brings the first game utility to Bitcoin NFTs. Officially called Gold Baby Genopet Bitcoin NFTs, these NFTs will also be usable in the Genopets move to earn app.

Food and Toys are needed for the new mini-games, Fetch and Feed. Food and Toys are in-game items only, though they may offer options for converting them into NFTs in the future. Future plans for Genopets include the ability to equip Augments, and a Pokemon-style battle system.

Magic Eden and Genopets Launch Semi-Fungible Token Marketplace On Solana Together

Magic Eden is a community-focused marketplace for NFTs that recently announced it would fund its own games through an internal gaming division called Eden Games. Magic Eden apparently accounts for 90% of NFTs sold on Solana. Moreover, Magic Eden recently raised $130 million in a funding round that valued Magic Eden at $1.6 billion. This was covered previously in a news report by RE3W and GFPs.

Magic Eden has now just announced the introduction of its “semi-fungible token” (SFT) marketplace in partnership with the blockchain game Genopets. The Genopets community can now trade in-game SFTs through Magic Eden’s marketplace.

Genopets is a “move-to-earn” digital pets game. SFTs are digital assets that can be minted in quantities greater than one. The marketplace is also supported by Serum’s asset agnostic orderbook, which allows protocols to use Serum as their backend matching engine for any type of financial product.

Members of the Genopets community can mint and trade in-game SFTs vital to their crafting economy, like Crystals and Terraform Seeds, through the Magic Eden marketplace, creating a more efficient gameplay model.
