Card games have seen a resurgence in popularity over the last few years, with popular franchises such as Yu-Gi-Oh and World of Warcraft topping the mobile charts with games such as Hearthstone and Duel Links.
Outside of the CCG genre, Marvel Snap has also seen massive success in terms of superhero games. App Magic lists the game as the second-highest-grossing superhero game of the last year, behind only the Marvel Contest of Champions, and number three on the free charts, behind Talking Tom Hero Dash and Miami Rope Hero Spider Games.
Motive’s Iron Man title has reportedly already entered the playtesting phase. Testers can now offer feedback on the game’s plot points and game mechanics. The new game will be based around an original story about Iron Man and will apparently tap into “the rich history of the character, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark.”
Laura Miele, EA COO, was quoted in a statement saying: “We have been long-time fans of Marvel and their impressive leadership, so this is a remarkable moment for our developers as well as our players and fans. We look forward to welcoming Marvel into the EA family of creators and know this collaboration will produce exceptional experiences for our players.”
