Oxalis Games has successfully raised $4.5 million in a seed round for the upcoming play-to-earn and farming game, Moonfrost. The round was led by Blocore with additional participation from Supercell, Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands, and Griffin Gaming Partners. Games industry veteran Sir Ian Livingstone and Phil Mansell, CEO of Jagex, are also onboard as angels.

Moonfrost is described as a web3 multiplayer, social-simulation, and play-to-earn farming RPG. Creators have stated that it combines elements of Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The game is currently being developed by Oxalis Games, the UK-based remote studio. Oxalis Games was founded by BAFTA-winning game developer Ric Moore (CEO), and ‘Boss Witch & Art Director’ Gina Nelson.

Ric Moore previously co-founded Bossa Studios and The Secret Police, best known for developing Stardew Valley for mobile gaming. Gina Nelson has over a decade’s experience in the games industry, she has led multiple art teams and worked with many major brands, including Gears of War, Star Wars, Hasbro, and Disney.

The Oxalis Games team is rapidly expanding, attracting talents from industry-leading game studios including the likes of Epic, Mediatonic, Sumo, Natural Motion, Unity, EA, and Ubisoft. The game is currently road mapped for release in early 2023.
