There will be three waves of land sale on the platform, which has been named “California Dreamin”, “The Galleria”, and “Voxel Madness”. The initial “California Dreamin” wave features homegrown California-based brands like Playboy, and legendary rapper Nipsey Hussle’s “The Marathon Clothing.”
After the first wave of the land sale, the second wave starts on December 1st. The second wave will have LAND sales with partners like Cipriani, TIME, and more to be announced soon. “The Galleria” will contain neighborhood experiences spanning virtual fashion, hospitality, and media.
Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, stated:
“By including multiple brands that share a similar theme, like the California brands of California Dreamin’ […] users now have the chance to be neighbors of multiple partners that share a similar theme, like choosing the district you want to live in for a city.”
Autograph is developing a series of NFTs inspired by Hawk’s career – iconic skateboards, equipment, and apparel will be available for purchase. Included in these digital collectibles is Hawk’s skateboard that he used to land the 900 at the X Games in 1999. The Sandbox will then make the Autograph NFTs interoperable in its open metaverse, turning the digital assets into 3D voxels that will unlock in-game functionality.
Tony Hawk has had several web2 games created in inspiration of him over the years. Some of the most popular ones include the “Tony Hawk Pro Skater” series and the 2003 title “Tony Hawk’s Underground”. Additionally, Autograph and Tony Hawk have previously collaborated on an NFT collection that came with the chance of getting a physical skate deck signed by Tony.
