Zebedee enables programmable payments and small transactions to power economies for virtual worlds with near-zero fees. It aims to take the big transaction fees out of blockchain based cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and enables much smaller transaction sizes.
Zebedee recently raised $35 million in a funding round led by Kingsway Capital with participation from The Raine Group and Square Enix. Existing investors including Lakestar and Initial Capital also participated in the round. The capital will be used to further develop its Bitcoin-based payment systems for web3 games.
The company has now just announced the launch of its “No Big Deal” (NBD) nonprofit organization. The NBD initiative will apparently allow other Bitcoin developers to build their own software instead of relying on third-party, for-profit services, such as Zebedee itself. NBD’s first four projects deal with hosted channels. Over time, the organization’s open-source development efforts will branch out to include other aspects of Bitcoin.

The success of these games integrating bitcoin rewards encouraged a similar approach with these more classic games with the intention of capturing a larger audience.
